The Story
One Minute to Breathe was originally inspired by my first smart watch I bought about a decade ago. One day in the middle of work my watch vibrated and asked if I wanted to try a breathing exercise. I gave it a try. I spent a minute doing some deep breaths in rhythm with the pulsing rings. I found myself surprisingly refreshed after the exercise. I didn't do it too many times after that, but it made an impression.
Fast forward to COVID. I'm working from a sewing desk with a stool for a chair in the corner of my master bedroom of our small townhome. Like most people, the isolation, the meeting overload, and the extra adjustments needed to get a project completed increased the stress ten-fold.
Needing a break, I stepped outside for a moment and looked down the road...
The view and the quiet grabbed me. I stood there and just... breathed.
It was probably only a minute of time, but it helped... surprisingly well. I remembered the watch. I had an idea.
From there I started breathing more. Then I started recording situations I found peaceful to share with others. It generated some great feedback from friends, and I thought of different ways to share them... and now here's a mobile app for you.
I hope you enjoy and make sure to not work too hard.
